RACE DETAILS

Location: Des Plaines River Trail—Lake County Forest Preserve
Packet Pickup: Friday, October 19th, 4:00-7:30 pm at Flatlanders Restaurant and Brewery, 200 Village Green, Lincolnshire, IL 847-821-1234.
Note: Packet pickup is also available on race morning.
Please plan to arrive early if you intend on using this option.
Pre-Race Briefing: 10 minutes before each race at the starting line.
Start/Finish: All three races will start and finish at Half Day Preserve (enter parking area from Route 21 just north of Route 22)
Course Overview: Runners for all three races will head South on the DPR Trail for 1.3 miles. This will be a runner check-in point. They will then be directed by Volunteers to turnaround and double-back North on the DPR Trail until passing the Start/Finish Aid Station. From that point all runners will continue North on the DPR Trail to their respective north turn-around points: Aid Station #3 for Half-Marathoners, Aid Station #5 (Adler Memorial Park) for the Marathoners, and Aid Station #8 (Wadsworth Rd Canoe Launch) for the 50 milers. The course will be clearly marked with our DPR Race Mile Markers.
Start Times: 50 Mile Ultra at 7:00 Saturday, October 20
Marathon at 8:00 Saturday, October 20
Half Marathon at 9:00 Saturday, October 20
Time Limits: 50 Mile Ultra—11.5 hours (course closes at 6:30 pm)
Marathon—10.5 hours (marathoners are welcome to remain on the course until the
course closes at 6:30 pm)
Half Marathon—9.5 hours (half marathoners are welcome to remain on the course until the
course closes at 6:30 pm)
Aid Stations: 50 Mile Ultra—6 manned, and 2 unmanned (see course map for details).
Marathon—4 manned, and 1 unmanned (see course map for details).
Half Marathon—2 manned, and 1 unmanned (see course map for details).
Drop Bags: 50 Mile Ultra—at Aid Station #5 (Adler Memorial Park) and #8 (Wadsworth Canoe Launch)
Marathon--at Aid Station #5 (Adler Memorial Park)
Awards: Finisher’s buckle for 50 Mile Ultra (special inscription on award for sub-nine hours finish). Finisher’s medal for marathoners and half marathoners. Awards for overall male and female winners for each race and for winners in each age group.
REGISTRATIONS AFTER OCTOBER 1ST ARE NOT GUARANTEED A MEDAL OR BUCKLE
ON RACE DAY. IT WILL BE MAILED AFTER THE RACE.
Course Marking: Runners will be following the DPR Trail signs (look for DPR Trail logo —see sample in photo below). The course will be clearly marked with arrows sprayed on the ground. We will place other Race Markers (i.e. arrows, wrong way, etc.) at any point along the trail that we feel a crossing path might cause confusion. Each of these signs will have our DPR Trail Logo in the corner:
ART Massages: We will have two licensed massage therapists at the finish line giving free massages using the ART method (Active Release Technique). Visit www.bodycarebylisa.com
Food and Drink: Coffee, water, sports drinks, bananas and bagels will be available to all runners before the race. North Shore Health Systems will also be supplying free hot chocolate to all runners and spectators from 6 am until 10 am. Each runner will be receive a meal after the finish of their race (meal options will be noted here at a later date).
